York Option: Walk Around the City Walls
Overview
No visit to York would be complete without a walk around the City Walls. At just under 2 miles long, the beautifully preserved walls are the longest medieval town walls in England and offer fabulous views of the city and the surrounding area. There are five main bars or gateways, one Victorian gateway, one postern (a small gateway) and 45 towers.
Join our Blue Badge guide Steve for a walk around most of the route of the walls from Bootham Bar to Micklegate Bar. Steve is bound to enlighten us with loads of interesting information on the walls and the city.
We'll end at Micklegate Bar were there are lots of pubs and nice cafes for anyone wanting a lunch break. If you wish to walk the last section of the walls to complete the circuit you can do so.
This event is a free option on the York Celebration Weekend.
