York Celebration Weekend
Overview
2019 marks 30 years since the fun and friendship of Spice came to Yorkshire and we're ready to celebrate with a fabulous party in York on the 8th of June. But York's such a fabulous city to visit, why not make a whole weekend of it?
We'll be staying in the Park Inn by Radisson which stands by the River Ouse in the heart of York and is the venue for the party too so it's the perfect location.
Arrive on the Friday from the early afternoon and we'll get together for an Italian style dinner shuffle at The Grand Assembly Rooms, just a short walk from the hotel. Afterwards we can explore some of York's nightlife.
Across the weekend we have lots of options of fun things to do and details of these are on the events list, but include a tour of York Minster, Museum visits, River boating, a Treasure Hunt, and exploring the city walls.
Saturday night is party night. There'll be a welcome drink as we get together before our three course dinner with wine. After dinner our fantastic live band Mixtape will take to the stage for the first of two sets to get us all up dancing to some classic hits! The DJ will keep the music coming through until 1am.

On Sunday we'll have more optional activities so why not stay around to make the most of it! We also have an option to stay over an extra night in the hotel.

Please note the member pricing for a two night stay is £258 per person in a shared room, or £418 in a sole occupancy room.
The three night stay is £337 per person in a shared room, or £517 in a sole occupancy room.

Location & Itinerary
The historic city of York is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations for good reason. Its ancient cobbled streets are home to a wide range of independent shops, restaurants and quaint cafes. York has over 2000 listed buildings including many churches, most notably York Minster, the second-largest Gothic cathedral in Europe. York also has England's longest section of intact city wall.
The River Ouse runs through the heart of the city and right by our hotel offering more leisure opportunities. There are a plethora of varied museums to visit from the Jorvik Viking Centre to the award-winning National Railway Museum. York was home to three chocolate factories: Terry’s, Rowntree’s and Craven’s and you can learn of their history at the York's Chocolate Story.
York was at one time rumoured to have a pub for every day of the year and still has a great many varied drinking establishments from historic coaching inns to small quirky independent bars.

11:30 Walk Around the City Walls (FREE)
York’s famous walls are the longest medieval town walls in England. Join Steve for a walk with great views and lots of fascinating history.
14:00 Chocolate Manufactory Tour (£12)
Cravens, Rowntree, Terry’s. York has a long history of chocolate making. Meet the chocolatiers on our exclusive behind the scenes visit to York Cocoa House.
15:15 Treasure Hunt (FREE)
We’ll put you into small teams for this fun exploration of the city centre, looking for answers to questions as you go.
19:00 Spice Yorkshire's Anniversary Party
The main event with our three-course dinner with wine, followed by live music from Mixtape. It’s time to party!
Sunday
10:00 Red Boats on the Ouse (£9.50)
Blow away the cobwebs with an hour on the river. You can have a go at driving if you wish!

Explore the huge collection at this iconic museum. Not just for train spotters.

York has a long history and today we have a chance to discover something about the time of the Vikings.

Enjoy a fabulous afternoon tea in a beautiful setting.

Get a different perspective of the city on our Ouse Cruise!
19:30 Dinner at The Old White Swan
We’ve booked a table at The Old White Swan for everyone staying for three nights. There’s no need to book this as you can choose your meal and pay on the night, but if you are staying three nights and don’t wish to join us then please let us know.
Our meal includes a three course menu and a glass of house wine or soft drink. The starters and desserts are sharing boards and you'll be able to preorder your main.

Antipasti Classico Board - A selection of the finest ‘anti pasti’ from Italy which include:
Warm Rosemary and sea salt bread, Cheese garlic bread, Butterfly King Prawns, Bruschetta and Spinach and Ricotta Arrancini.

PORK BELLY PORCHETTA (A Tuscan classic; slow cooked pork belly in herbed red wine sauce, served with roasted potatoes and greens)
SEA BASS AL FORNO (Sea bass fillet baked in a white wine sauce with new potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach).
PASTA
LASAGNE (Layers of green egg pasta sheets with beef and pork sausage ragu sauce, topped with creamy Béchamel and Grana Padano cheese and finished with a few breadcrumbs for extra crunch)
BEEF BRISKET BOLOGNESE (Slow cooked beef brisket and Chianti ragu)
SPAGHETTI POMODORO (v) (Santos tomatoes, garlic and fresh basil in a rich tomato sauce, topped with buffalo mozzarella and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil)
PEA AND PROSCIUTTO RISOTTO (Vibrant pea and asparagus risotto topped with crispy smoked prosciutto and baby watercress)
PIZZA
PRIMA SALAMI MISTI (Fiery Calabrian n’duja sausage meat, roasted red peppers, pancetta, caramelised onions and fontal cheese. We’ll add chillies if you would like it hotter)
PRIMA CAPRINA (v) (Soft goat’s cheese, rocket, San Marzano tomatoes, olive tapenade and Calabrian oregano)
CALZONE CON POLLO (Folded pizza stuffed with chicken breast, pancetta, mushrooms, fire roasted peppers, olives, tomato sauce and mozzarella, seasoned with rosemary and Grana Padano)

Drinks
Choose a glass of red or white house wine, or a soft drink: cola, lemonade or fruit juice.
If you have special dietary requirements they will be able to cater, but please let us know when booking.
Meet inside at 7:30pm. If you are on the York Celebration Weekend you can meet us in the hotel foyer at 7:15pm to walk over as a group.
Our table is booked for 7:45pm.
Travel & Stay
We will be staying at the Park Inn by Radisson in the heart of York city centre and right alongside the River Ouse.
The rooms are well equipped standard twins or doubles and feature 14m2 of space, en-suite facilities, climate control, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, free toiletries, coffee and tea making facilities, professional hairdryer, in-room safe, iron and ironing board.
The hotel is just 600m from the railway station and also has its own car park.
Accessible rooms are subject to availability - please ask!
The restaurant is in York city centre, just a few minutes walk from the railway station. If you are on the York Celebration Weekend then meet us in the hotel foyer at 7:15pm to walk across as a group.
