Overview

This exciting centre has an ideal location being situated at Dolgellau (pronounced Dol-geth-lie) on the banks of the Afon Wnion and known as the gateway to Southern Snowdonia. The handsome, dark-stone market town is perfectly placed for exploring all of Snowdonia’s mountains and coast. To the west of the town, the beautiful Mawddach estuary stretches all the way to the sea at Barmouth. This is an excellent location for viewing wildlife and enjoying the views of the surrounding mountains. We will be staying in a true Victorian mansion in large grounds making this period house a rather pleasing venue and it contains everything we need for a super weekend get-a-way. The walking is magnificent and while the high-level walks have the delights of the rugged, remote Rhinogs and wild Cadair ridge to stun them the low level are treated to the famous and most picturesque Precipice and Torrent walks.

This weekend will be run in accordance with Covid regulations at the time of the event - should we not be able to run the weekend due to Covid restrictions you will be entitled to a credit note or refund.

Is this for me?

We will provide two walks each day led by professional & knowledgeable walking guides. The hard walk is around 8-10 miles with up to 3,000 ft ascent (please be realistic about your own fitness and undertake the walk that will give you the most pleasure) & the easier walk 6-8 miles and 1,500ft of ascent.

Travel & Stay

Our Victorian 4-star Country House, Dolserau Hall, idyllically situated in peaceful rolling countryside, is geared to the needs of walkers and outdoor enthusiasts. We shall enjoy hearty local food in this inspirational location and from here we shall explore the best of the less frequented southern Snowdonia. Our bedrooms are either located in the main building or the tastefully converted coach house. All rooms are equipped with a hairdryer, clock radio and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. There is a social, friendly atmosphere in-house and a well-stocked bar serving local beers, wine and spirits. Evening meals are excellent, the breakfasts extensive and the picnic lunches contain everything you should ever need. Free car parking is naturally included.
