Overview

Today we are exploring a new walk taking in Werneth Low, Country Park and surrounding areas including Woodseats, Chisworth, Ernocroft Wood and Etherow Country Park.

Expect Hills, Valleys, Woodland, Weirs, good paths, dodgy paths, undergrowth, overgrowth, a little bit of road walking, plenty of head-scratching and a couple of cuss words as we work our way around using our trusty mobile walking app!

Location & Itinerary

Is this for me?

Grade 4/5: Approx 8 1/2 Miles - this is a new to us walk so it could be longer or shorter and it could be harder or easier so we would recommend only booking this if you are a regular walker. Please refer to the Ramble Grading page HERE which also gives you a list of recommended items to bring with you.

Getting There

Leave the M60 at junction 25 at take the A560 exit to Bredbury; then at the Bredbury Interchange, take the 2nd exit onto Crookilley Way/A560 and then at the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Ashton Rd/A560. After 0.4 Miles turn left on to Stockport Road (A560) and continue for 2.1 Miles turning right at the Audi Garage to continue on to Stockport Road (A560) for 0.8 Miles (which changes in to Mottram Old Road) then turn right in to Spring Avenue and then shortly after turn left in to Higham Lane. Werneth Low Country Park is signposted on the left.

Host & Everything Else

Please bring your walking boots, hand sanitiser and sandwiches as we will be having a picnic on the way round. Please refer to the Ramble Grading page HERE which also gives you a list of recommended items to bring with you.

DOGS: Lauren welcomes well behaved dogs on her walks. They need to be kept on a lead if we are walking amongst livestock, whilst we are eating and at all times if there is someone on the walk who is nervous of dogs. Please note though that this is an off piste walk so we don't know how suitable stiles are for the dogs (never mind the walkers!)
