Why not enjoy this stunning weekend walking break in Shropshire, one of England’s most beautiful and overlooked counties! This ideal walking country with its shapely hills, inviting valleys and enchanting villages all combine to produce an ever-changing and attractive landscape. We’ll be staying at Longmynd House, which nestles high amongst 10 acres of private woodland high in the surrounding, breathtaking and peaceful hills, so rest assured we’re in for another superb weekend of walking. There’s so much to do here we’ll have to limit it this weekend to two days walks and choose from the following; a local exploration of the steep sided valleys of the Long Mynd, with a climb to the highest point, Pole Bank, a walk to take in the excellent views from the heights of Caer Caradoc and Bodbury Hill. To the east lies the gentler terrain of Wenlock Edge, an amazingly rare and special wooded limestone escarpment, which offers dramatic views, historic quarries and limekilns, as well as rare lime-loving wildflowers. Whilst out to the west, there is a remarkable line of dark quartzite tors better known as the famous Stiperstones and all the tops reward your efforts with fantastic views across Shropshire and the Welsh borders. Make no mistake this is superb walking country and from a walking perspective our greatest difficulty is choosing what to leave out!
