Peak District Walk: Dovedale and Tissington
Overview
This is a lovely Peak District walk and not only takes in the beautiful Dovedale and Tissington village.
The walk will be around 7 miles and as well as Dovedale and the Tissington village we will use some of the Tissington Trail (course of a disused railway) and the Limestone Way with both pretty and dramatic scenery. There is just one ascent as we walk out of Dovedale.
The walk starts in Dovedale and crosses the iconic stepping stones. From there we ascend Lin Dale towards Thorpe and pick up the Limestone Way as we make our way to Tissington village. After admiring the village and maybe a coffee we use the Tissington Trail to make our way to Thorpe and then, with stunning views we descend back to Dovedale.
Location & Itinerary
After the walk we have the option to go for lunch at The Bentley Brook Inn.

Our Sunday walks are always popular and we go out all weathers and all through the year. All walks in the Peak District need to be classified as moderate due to the terrain. Easier Moderate Walks are generally half day only around 6-8 miles.
Full day or Harder Moderate walks are normally not more than 10-12 miles although sometimes slightly more in summer months.
If you've not done much hill walking recently regardless of your general fitness level, we'd recommend starting off on one of these shorter half day walks, typically of around 6 miles before tackling our slightly more serious full day walks.
