Beginners Horse Trek
Overview
This trek (approx ½ hour familiarisation & 1 ½ hour trek) is organised by a quality riding stables & show jumping yard close to the River Mersey and West Pennine Trail. The trek is designed for beginners or novice riders; it will be a very gentle ride on trained horses accompanied by escorts on foot for those that wish. After the ride we will retire to the on site cafeteria for bacon butties and cup of tea/coffee. Non Riders are welcome. The ride is off road and will encompass riding alongside the River Mersey in the Cheshire countryside – you never know, you might even find you are riding an ex international show jumper who has arrived for a gentle retirement at Ashton Hall.
Riding hats are provided and must be worn. Please wear sensible footwear preferably boots with a small heel and ankle support; comfy, warm clothes; waterproofs if raining and gloves just in case as the reins can rub your hands. Jeans are not suitable. This event is not weather dependent (unless it is very icy) so please come prepared for bad weather.
Please note that the maximum weight is 16 stone for this event – you will be paired up with a horse that is appropriate for your height and weight.
From the M60 follow the signs for Carrington and at the Motorway Roundabout take the A6144(M) signposted Carrington. Continue on the A6144 (M) then at the lights turn left onto the A6144 & go straight over the mini roundabout to continue on the A6144. After .4 miles turn left onto Buck Lane (which changes name to Glebeland’s Road), then turn left in to Church Lane after approximately 0.1 Miles. Continue down Church Lane and the stables are situated on the right opposite the Church. You may have to park on Church Lane as the stable yard can get very busy.
