Walking with Linda: 6 or 8.5 mile, Kew Bridge to Hayes & Harlington, Canals & Locks Walk

Join Linda on this 6 or 8.5 mile, Kew Bridge to Hayes & Harlington, Canals & Locks Walk.

Please meet in the café by the footbridge linking the platforms to the front of Kew Bridge railway station at 09:50, ready to depart on the walk at 10:00.  

We will take a flat walk alongside the River Thames, River Brent and the Grand Union Canal past locks and a boat yard, over Bridges and past boat dwellers. 

We'll make our way to a pub for lunch (at your own expense). The pub is a free house that has featured in the Good Beer Guide for well over 10 years and has been the CAMRA, West Middlesex pub of the year for many of those years.

If 6 miles is enough for you, after lunch you can make your way home from Hanwell railway station, just a short walk from the pub.

After lunch, we'll continue our walk alongside the canal, past numerous locks that were built in the 1700's and a Brunel built bridge. We'll pass by the unusual junction where a road bridge crosses over the canal which crosses over the railway line!

We end the walk at Hayes & Harlington railway station where we can catch Elizabeth line trains home.  

We can stop to treat ourselves to a cup of tea before catching trains home if you wish.

Please bring drinking water, money to buy lunch and any other drinks and snacks you may want. 

Please dress for the weather on the day (and bring a golfing umbrella if it is expected to rain!).

Please check your transport times, and for any engineering works, at least the day before the walk and allow some contingency time for delays.
