Spice Dines East - The Jobber’s Rest, Upminster
Overview
Continuing our series of dining out on the east side of London, join us for dinner at The Jobber’s Rest in Upminster.
This is a Heartwood Inn gastro-pub which is part of Raymond Blanc’s White Brasserie Company group, so there’s a touch of Gallic flair to some dishes on their a-la carte menu; they serve seasonal foods “grown with care and cooked with love”. Described as a characterful pub, it has a large dining room with a decent amount of space between tables, along with multiple snugs and side rooms. There's also an expansive garden, should it be nice enough to sit outside for drinks after dinner.
The menu has a good mix of meat, fish, seafood, vegetarian and vegan options. Starters are around £7-10, mains range from £15-30 and sides are £4-5. Desserts are mostly £9-10 each. They have wine, beer (including a few on tap), cider, spirits, cocktails, mocktails, low alcohol and alcohol free options, juices and soft drinks. You can find their menus HERE
On the night you just pay for your own food, drinks and the relevant service charge. Please note that this restaurant is cashless and you can only pay by card.
If this event is sold out, please do add your name to the Waitlist as we may be able to increase the number of places if there's sufficient interest.

The Jobber's Rest is a 25 minute walk from Upminster station (District, Overground and mainline). Bus 248 from the station will reduce the walking time but not the overall journey time as it goes round the back streets (get off at Moor Lane stop). Bus 346 from Corbets Tey Road will also reduce the walking time, but it only runs every 20 minutes. The restaurant has plenty of parking spaces. It may be possible to arrange a lift from Upminster station – please contact the host, via the event's Forum on the Spice app, once you have booked the event.
