Overview

Come and join Rob smith on this great 5½ Mile ramble which is surprising rural and now includes a visit to the famous Wedges Bakery.

We start opposite the farm in Monkspath, initially passing through a local golf club and Shelly coppice. After this we enter the vast estate of the Solihull Riding Cub before passing the famous Hogarth’s hotel and then the grounds of the Blyth valley Business Park and its linier nature reserve, leaving the park on the south side we enter Ilshaw heath and the famous wedges bakery which was founded in the 1850s, where there is a small café where we can purchase some light refreshments as well as their famous cakes and pastries.

We retrace our step to the end of the business park again through some lovely woodland before passing into the Blythe valley nature reserve and wetlands and before following the River Blythe back to the start.

After the ramble we can visit the Farm this is part of the “ Lovely Pubs” chain and has extensive gardens if you fancy a drink.

Rob will book a table so please let him know if you wish to eat.

The ramble is very flat with a couple of gentle gradients
