Overview

Today’s walk see’s us starting in the village of Greenfield on the outskirts of Oldham, Lancashire however it was formerly in the West Riding’s of Yorkshire.

There is some climbing on this route to reach the reservoirs on the moor, but once up at the reservoirs the way is very clear and on a nice day you can enjoy views of the surrounding crag bound hills.

The walk doesn’t venture too far beyond well-made tracks or well-trodden paths however please do still wear walking boots.

At the reservoir which is an RSPB reserve, we should be rewarded with sightings of plenty of wildfowl so you might want to bring along your binoculars to get a closer view.

The pub have kindly agreed that they are happy for us to park in the pub car park provided we plan to go in for a drink at the end of the walk. If you don't plan to join us for a drink afterwards or if the car park is full, there is some on road parking on Chew Valley Road just outside the pub and the school car park close by is generally open and well used by walkers on a Sunday

DOGS: Lisa welcomes well behaved dogs on her walks. They need to be kept on a lead if we are walking amongst livestock, whilst we are eating and at all times if there is someone on the walk who is nervous of dogs.
