Overview
This year the New Year’s break with Steve Dell is in Nottinghamshire.
There will be both a walking and a social programme of activities each day. As usual you can of course mix and match the walking and social stuff.
As the 2nd January is a working day we start on the 29th December and finish on the 1st January. You can book an extra night and stay over on the 1st and chill out and relax on New Year’s Day if you don’t need to rush back.
So whether you are a walker, want a social break over New Year or a mixture of both this break is for you.
On the Saturday you can either arrive by lunchtime for an afternoon walk or social activity or arrive in the evening.
The walking will be easy to moderate and there will be options of shorter or longer walks on some days.
Evenings and meals
Each evening we will have dinner at the hotel. On the first night Steve will go through the plans for the next few days and we can get to know our fellow Spicers. Evening options can be a quiz on one night which always proves popular.
New Year’s Eve Party: We will have our own private party in their function suite. We start with Dinner followed by our disco which will see us well into the New Year. This New Year we have secured Max who is one of our favorite DJs, as many of you already know Max is renowned for keeping the dance floor buzzing all night.
New Year’s Day: After a late breakfast there will be the option of a walk directly from the hotel.

The walking programme
There will be a walking programme over the break with walks on the Sunday and Monday (New Year’s Eve) and a walk from the hotel on New Year’s Day
The walking programme is still being developed and will appear on here over the next few weeks but the walks will be places like Sherwood Forest and Newstead Abbey and Park.
The social / Touristy stuff
There is plenty to do if you don’t want to walk or want to mix and match with the walking. There will be visits to attractions such as Nottingham Caves, the National Justice museum.
The social option on New Year’s Eve is the pantomime in Nottingham (oh yes it is and here is a link to the event)
Dinner will be at the hotel on all three nights including a gala dinner and New Years Eve party
The hotel and weekend is achievable by train as it’s a short bus of taxi ride from the main Nottingham railway station.
There is plenty of free parking at the hotel.
