Falls Road and Shankill Road Coach Tour
Overview
This is one of the trip extras for the Belfast Social weekend. For more information about the weekend and to book please see this link
The Falls Road and Shankill Roads are probably two of the most famous roads in Belfast’s political history.
What better way to experience and learn about this history of Belfast with this tour. It can be a walking tour but we have hired a coach as the tour is around 3 hours. We do get off at a few locations though to have a look around and see the sites up close and personal.
The tour will allow visitors to visit both the catholic / nationalist Falls Road area with its famous murals (such as the Bobby Sand murals) and the protestant / unionist Shankill road. Each area will be guided by a former political prisoner from the area.
This tour allows the visitor to see the British / Irish conflict from several perspectives, learning about the everyday life of both communities. The joint Falls and Shankill political tour is an exploration of both republican and loyalist perspectives about the past.
It is also a personal tour because both guides will have played and keep playing a role for their community.
This tour is perfect for those seeking to understand the roots of the recent phase of the British/Irish conflict and how it still impacts today’s life in Belfast.
