Overview

Join us in this lovely seaside town to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee, we will be staying at the 4* Mercure Bournemouth. Perched on East Cliff, the 4* Mercure Bournemouth is just 200 yards from Eastcliffe beach and a 5-minute walk from Bournemouth’s 7 miles of sandy beach. This newly refurbished Mercure hotel takes inspiration from the nearby Jurassic Coast, with subtle nautical design elements and a comfortable, contemporary atmosphere. All rooms include smart TVs and fast Wi-Fi, a sophisticated on-site brasserie, The Kraken bar and a great coffee shop serving freshly prepared beans from a local micro-roastery.

Arrive anytime on Thursday 2 June (which is a bank holiday.) Rooms will not be available until 3pm, but you may arrive early and leave your bags at reception so you can enjoy the area, before a welcome drinks reception in the early evening. The Queens birthday parade is due to be televised on this date, and we hope to watch it as part of the celebrations.

You may opt to dine at the Ibis that evening or make your own arrangements for dinner at one of the many bars and restaurants in the area, there are a good selection on Old Christchurch Rd 0.2 miles away. The hotel is just short walk from Bournemouth’s shops and restaurants.

The hotel has a beautiful garden where we will be holding our Garden Party on the Friday afternoon. The Garden Bar will be open and there will be games (Giant Jenga etc.) and there is cover if we are unlucky with the weather!

The Summer Barbeque party on the Saturday evening will be followed by a disco. There is a concert planned at Buckingham Palace that evening, so hopefully we will be able to catch some of that during the evening too.

On the Sunday check out is 11am, again you may leave your bags if you want to spend some more time exploring the local area before making your way home. We will be investigating the possibility of joining a Big Jubilee Lunch event on the Sunday, and maybe watching the televised pageant if at all possible.

There will be some free time over the weekend and nearer to the date, I will add some additional events (payable separately.)

Originally this break was booked for the 3* Ibis Styles, we have now been upgraded to the sister hotel, 4* Mercure Bournemouth for the same fantastic weekend. The photos shown are the new hotel
