World Mental Health Day

This Saturday 10 October is World Mental Health Day, an annual awareness programme to bring attention to mental illness and its major effects on people's lives worldwide.

Covid has led to this year being a tough one for everyone and many people have been adversely affected by the months of lockdown and the ongoing uncertainty. According to research by mental health charity, Mind, more than half of adults (60%) and over two thirds of young people (68%) said their mental health got worse during lockdown.

Mind's campaign this year is focussing on the idea of doing one thing. Whether it's going for a walk, learning a new skill, or doing something creative, their aim is to encourage people to take the first steps to getting support for themselves, or reaching out to someone else.
