Spice Coronavirus Update
Mar 18, 2020
As you may be aware, Government advice on Coronavirus changed and is very likely to change again in the coming days/weeks/months. The advice now to the public is not to gather to meet in crowded places such as pubs, clubs and theatres and not to undertake unnecessary travel.
Taking this advice on board, and with everyone’s welfare in mind, all here at Spice feel it only correct that we take a positive lead in the fight against the rapid spread of Coronavirus in our own little way and therefore need to change our events over the next few weeks to online ones. We are very much hoping you will support Spice and your fellow members in these unprecedented and trying times by continuing to join us for our events.
The virtual world is new for many of us but there has been a trend to meet virtually especially with the rise of working from home and it can be just as rewarding and a different kind of rich experience. This is not what we would promote ordinarily but these are testing times and we need to come together as a community and lean on each other.
Spice plans to publish a set on online events that you can attend from your home - so whether you are self-isolating or simply following advice and working from home you will be able to spend time with your Spice family. All online events will have a link that you will need to follow to register and once you join there will be a friendly Spice host that will lead the event.
In addition, as part of our response to these unprecedented times while your Spice groups are working hard to re-organise all of their schedules and all of our event we do appreciate that lots of you are Spice members precisely because you don’t want to sit at home – you want to get out and be active so we intend to have a membership amnesty! What is this you may ask…
During our period of amnesty you will be credited £10 to your Spice account on the 1st of each month starting 1st April to use against events as soon as we are able to start running them again. This effectively gives you your monthly membership fee back to you give or take a small admin fee to help us keep running.
Our first online event as a starter is was today at 11am with a morning cup of coffee (or tea!) hosted by Jamie our Spice Scotland Coordinator we had nearly 40! So take a break from the current madness going on around us all - we look forward to seeing you on our online events an easy way to search for these events is to tick the online box in the search.
Hope to see you on an online event soon...
