York Option: Sunday Afternoon River Cruise
Overview
Our York City Cruise offers an entertaining and informative tour of the River Ouse. Escape the city rush and enjoy York from a different perspective whilst the friendly crew guide you leisurely up and downstream.
You will admire the scenery from the comfort of the enclosed saloon or the upper deck. Take home fascinating facts about the incredible history of York and its river from the live, sightseeing commentary delivered by the skipper. Learn about York’s famous history of flooding and its previous prosperity as an inland port, all while sailing along the very river that brought the Romans and the Vikings to this beautiful city.
You are more than welcome to treat yourself to a refreshing drink from the bar whilst resting your feet. The boat has an enclosed heated saloon, toilets and a fully stocked bar serving beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks, hot drinks and snacks.
The cruise will also include an informative commentary from the local, knowledgeable skipper as we sail through the city and then downstream to Bishopthorpe Palace, the stunning riverside residence of His Grace the Archbishop of York. Relaxing background music will play between the live commentary.
The cruise will last between 45 minutes and up to an hour depending on conditions and river levels.
This event is an optional extra on the York Celebration Weekend, but open to anyone.
