Overview

This 10 mile walk ambles through the delightful rolling countryside and timeless villages of Bedfordshire, just south of Milton Keynes.

The route will take us through Woburn and on into Apsley Wood, through Apsley Guise and then into the safari park by the walkers entrance.

Woburn is famous for its huge herds of deer and we are sure to see plenty, along with chance of more unusual animals, such as elephants and wallabies as we work our way through the park. Onwards into Brook End, where we will stop for a break at The Green Man.

Afterwards we gentry climb to the Greensand Ridge Walk that passes through the vast open parklands and lakes of Woburn Abbey before returning to Woburn, where we can recover in Flootes Café.

Toilets: Limited at start unless you have a cup of tea in Flootes café before we start. There will be some at the Green Man.

Host & Everything Else

Elephant guns are not required, please bring a packed lunch and a sense of humour. Dogs are not welcome as they upset the lions too much.

The route is well drained for most of the walk and walking boots are recommended. Walking poles are great for supporting dodgy knees and fending off any escapees from the safari park.

What a fantastic walk this is! Great scenery, and good views of animals in the Safari Park! Lovely café at the start and finish, with a great pub en route. Trevor is a really excellent walk leader!
