Overview

Take Me High was Cliff Richard’s oft-forgotten last film, seeing his character Tim have his hopes for promotion to New York dashed and finding himself instead sent to ‘the provinces’, finding love and adventure – and opening a restaurant called ‘Brumburgers’.

Set and filmed in Birmingham in 1973, it features a wealth of archive footage of the city, including Gas Street Basin, Alpha Tower, the Council House (as a hotel), Spaghetti Junction, New Street, Corporation Street, Central Library and the Hall of Memory.

The film will be introduced by Jez Collins, founder of the Birmingham Music Archive, with the opportunity for questions and discussion afterwards.
