Week Day Ramble: Borsdane Woods and the Leeds & Liverpool Canal
Overview
This lovely new to Spice walk features Borsdane Wood with lovely spring flowers and many bird species. The woods are set in a valley and about two to three miles long and are a good example of ancient woodland with protected flora and fauna.
The walk initially crosses fields towards Pennington Green and then skirts Hindley golf club up towards the Leeds and Liverpool canal. We continue along the canal past a series of locks before going down the old railway line and onwards towards Hindley Railway Station. Skirting this station brings us down into a valley and allows us to walk the full extent of beautiful Borsdane Wood and back to the car park.
