Overview

Symonds Yat is famed for its natural river scenery and wooded expanses. It is a fantastically beautiful spot, set below steep-sided wooded slopes, straddling the River Wye lazily meandering below. Symonds Yat Rock is an amazing viewpoint on a limestone outcrop that rises some 500 feet from the banks of the River Wye. Along with the nearby Forest of Dean and the Welsh Border, this is a justifiably popular walking area due to its picturesque scenery, which offers much reward for any effort expended! This hotel gives us a great scope to enjoy the best of the walks in comfort.

Includes

2 nights accommodation, 2 breakfasts, 2 picnic lunches, 2 evening meals & 2 guided walks

Extras

local transport to and from walks if used

Location & Itinerary

Is this for me?

To allow you to choose a walk that suits you best, we will provide a minimum of two walks on each day, led by professional and knowledgeable walking guides. On each day there will be a harder walk of 10-13 miles with 1000+ft of ascent (please be realistic about your level of fitness and join the right walk for you, after all it should be about pleasure at the end of the day) and a gentler walk of 7-9 miles with less ascent. All walks are weather dependent and own transport may be taken to the walk starts.

Travel & Stay

The Paddocks Hotel is an independent hotel set in beautiful countryside, within walking distance of the lovely River Wye, making it an ideal base for a walking trip. The chef provides delicious food, served by friendly staff. All the bedrooms have a television, tea and coffee making facilities and are en-suite with a bath or shower (or both). The friendly service, ideal walking location and popular cuisine coupled with a well-stocked bar make this a wonderful location...and it is also within walking distance of a cracking local riverside pub!
