Overview
The spa town of Buxton is at the heart of the Peak District, one of Britain's most beautiful national parks. Famed for its Opera house and the health properties of its mineral water, the area is immersed amongst stunning scenery. By staying at the beautiful Palace Hotel we are admittedly a little spoilt, not only as it is situated at the centre of Buxton but also we can enjoy the leisure facilities on offer such as the indoor pool, fitness suite, sauna and steam rooms. Its also very accessible with the train station being almost next door. In terms of the mighty impressive walking with two days to go at we shall experience almost everything the Peak District has to offer. For we shall wander over the Gritstone tors, escarpments and moorland and meader through the deepest dales sheltered by the fascinating limestone cliffs, waterfalls and flora that encapsulate Cheedale, Deepdale and Monsal Head. Add to this, pretty hamlets & villages not to mention good pubs & cafes plus so much more; and all in great company.

Set in the very Heart of the Peak District Buxton is absolutely surrounded by superb scenery and a smorgasbord of choice of routed. To the South lies the beautiful and shapely Roaches and there are numerous circular routes around them or it is even possible to walk over the Roaches, then weave your way through gritstone valleys and follow the dark waters to Three Shires Head. Suddenly we emerge out onto the wild open heather moors and stride out towards our sumptuous hotel in Buxton. Meanwhile the easy walkers have just as many wonderful options too. One favourite circular walk comprises of all the best parts the Roaches has to offer surveying shapely Tors such as Hen Cloud, still waters of Tittesworth Reservoir, sheltered valleys with tumbling streams, heather moors, and stunning views along the way! Their reward is by way of returning to a nice welcoming pub for tea or something a little stronger!
By contrast on our second day we could explore the ‘light or white peak’ which has some of the most dramatic scenery in the national park. This area is characterised by the fascinating limestone scenery, deep limestone gorges, exposed escarpments, lush flower-rich pastures and its famous underground cave systems plus pretty hamlets. Amongst all this also lies a working history of old mills, weirs and numerous mill pools which are now a haven for wildfowl, all of which add to the enjoyment of this seriously majestic walk
Do you enjoy walking, fresh air and the company of fun like-minded people? Then yes it is ! To allow you to choose a walk that suits you best, We will provide a minimum of two walks on each day, led by professional and knowledgeable walking guides. On both days there will be a harder walk of 10-12 miles with 1000+ft of ascent, and a gentler walk of 6-9 miles with less ascent.
