See in the New Year with a fine walking break. The emphasis really is on the walking too from the iconic spa town of Buxton. Buxton lies at the heart of the Peak District, one of Britain's most endearing national parks. Famed for its Opera house and the health properties of its mineral water, the area offers stunning scenery. By staying at the Palace Hotel we are situated in the centre of Buxton for the night life (if it is open!) but also we can hopefully enjoy the leisure facilities on offer such as the indoor pool, fitness suite, and sauna and steam rooms. In terms of the mighty impressive walking with three days to go at we shall experience almost everything the Peak District has to offer. By contrasting the walks between the Dark Peak and their gritstone edges, escarpments and wild moorland with the White Peak whose features include fascinating limestone cliffs, waterfalls and flora that encapsulate the dales we will experience the very best of the Peak District indeed. Add to this, over the course of the weekend, pretty hamlets & villages not to mention good pubs & cafes plus so much more; and all in great company. Just a footnote to this programme and this time of year, the walks will be weather dependent and we may need to avoid certain valleys if there is flooding but we are sure that will not dampen your spirit!
