Overview
Here at Spice South West we have decided to offer our members this fantastic weekend in Torquay. This will be a great opportunity to meet up with your fellow members from across the UK and welcome our new members to the group.
Torquay is a seaside resort town on the English Channel in Devon, south west England. Known for beaches such as Babbacombe and cliffside Oddicombe, its coastline is nicknamed the English Riviera. Torquay Harbour near the town centre offers shops, cafes and a marina. Torre Abbey, a monastery founded in 1196, has art galleries and extensive gardens featuring plants from local writer Agatha Christie's novels.
We will be aiming to visit Buckfast Abbey where a small entrance fee may apply.

Please note the Abbey Lawn has a small car park, this is a first come first served basis. Please arrive as close to check in time as possible if you wish to secure a space. 20 spaces only.
Nearest car park is a 10 minute walk. Shedden Hill Car Park, Shedden Hill Rd, Torquay TQ2 5TY. Please note there is free on street parking close by to the Abbey Lawn but for obvious reasons cannot be reserved or guaranteed. https://www.torbay.gov.uk/roads/parking/car-park-charges/
Nearest train station is Torquay and this is a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel.

Location & Itinerary
Friday
After checking in and settling in to your room, you may have time to take advantage of the indoor swimming pool.
We will aim to meet for welcome reception at 18:00 before dinner at 18:30.
After dinner you can take a stroll around Torquay or enjoy the hotels nightly entertainment and bar.
Saturday
After breakfast we will be planning a group trip to Buckfast Abbey.
We will find a local pub for lunch, before heading back to Torquay with time to explore the town and enjoy the hotel.
Dinner will be served at 18:15pm so will give us time for some pre dinner drinks. After dinner there will be the hotels nightly entertainment and a chance to socialise amongst the crowd.
Sunday
After breakfast we might take a walk along the Agatha Christie Walk, for those that want lunch we will have table booked at a local pub before heading home.

The Abbey Lawn Hotel, Torquay Devon
This cosy Georgian hotel, in the former grounds of the former Torre Abbey offers an exceptional standard of relaxation throughout. Many of the bedrooms look out to sweeping views of the bay. There are graceful and spacious comfortable lounges, a lovely conservatory overlooking the bay and an indoor swimming pool to unwind in.
