Sutton Park Pools, Wells & Romans Ramble
Overview
Event going ahead: Please be assured that this event can go ahead, From the 29th March we can have groups on outdoor activities.
Second Group: There is a second group being led by Billie Biblock to enable good social distancing, which will follow a short distance from Richard’s group. If the first group is full there may be space on the second group.
Some leisurely walking, aimed at those who like a sociable saunter amongst beautiful scenery and some surprising history in this lovely park..
Starting at Blackroot, where there is a lovely cafe to enjoy, we head, this time. over to the Streetly side of the park which has some new treats to discover.
We plan to discover a Roman Road, a pool that produced pen nibs and a natural well that has surprising connections both to fertility and eye surgery! Add to this the chance of meeting Exmoor Ponies and discovering some wonderful ancient woodland and we're in for a Thursday treat!
No doubt we'll enjoy the café at the end which will need to be take away
This event is organized and supplied by Richard Coulter – Hidden Spaces, whose terms and conditions apply, obtainable on request and for whom Spice act as agent. Those booking enter into a contract directly with Richard Coulter. For availability and bookings contact Spice.
We meet in the Blackroot car park. This can only be accessed by entering the park through Four Oaks or Hartop Road Gates.
From Four Oaks Gate (on Four Oaks Road) keep on the same road for approx. 1 mile, where you need to take a right turn over a railway bridge. The car park for The Blackroot Bistro is then on your left. Park up and find Richard near the Bistro entrance. If you can’t find us, dial the Spice Mobile 07899 950109. There is a £2 per car charge to drive into the park on weekends and Bank Holidays although in the past they have not started charging until 10.30am so we haven't had to pay - but this system is under constant review, so please be prepared.
Note: You cannot get to The Bistro from any of the park gates other than Four Oaks Gate or Hartop Gate. Be careful with Sat Nav systems as they don’t always understand this!
