Sunday Walk: Walton Hall and The Bridgewater Canal
Overview
A pleasant walk in the countryside to the south of Warrington taking in the Bridgewater Canal, constructed to transport coal and Walton Hall, former home to the Greenall family and built from the profits of beer. We pass the villages of Moore and Hatton, walking through fields and wooded areas en route. We will also pass Appleton reservoir where you can often see great crested grebe diving for fish. Although not a difficult walk, there are some uneven pathsl so please don’t forget your walking boots. We will be stopping for a picnic en route, so please bring some food and drinks to keep you going.
Facilities: at Walton Hall a few minutes walk from our meeting point
