Sunday Walk: Great Budworth
Overview
A walk of deep in the heart of Cheshire where we start through the woods and canals adjoining Marbury Country Park, then stroll towards the chocolate box pretty village of Great Budworth, passing the Lion Salt Museum and having our packed lunch en route. We then visit the Ice Cream Farm where we can enjoy a post-lunch cup of tea, and if we wish treat ourselves to supreme quality homemade Real Dairy Ice cream and cakes! We then return to the cars via lanes and the path by Budworth Mere. Please bring your walking boots and sandwiches.
Facilities: Toilets at Car Park and at the Ice Cream Farm two thirds of the way round
Location & Itinerary
Grade 4: 6 1/2 Miles - please refer to the walk grading page HERE which also gives you a list of recommended items to bring with you.
From Mcr take M56 to J10 and exit onto A559, signposted Northwich. After 3.1 miles turn right, signposted Comberbach and Anderton Boat Lift. Follow this road for 1.4 miles, passing through the village of Comberbach, and turn left into Marbury Country Park (postcode CW9 6AT) where it will cost around 2 pounds 50 pence to park.
The Pay and Display machines are not the easiest to work and can occasionally form queues due to this, so leave yourself a little bit of extra time just in case.
