Sunday Walk and Lunch: Fulford and Heslington
Overview
Today we walk from Fulford via Forest Lane to Heslington Tillmire, a Site of Special Scientific Interest on common land. The Tillmire's marshy grassland is a habitat for a wide range of birds. Our walk passes through farmlands on level fields and also skirts Fulwood's famous golf course.
It's easy level walking, so why not join us. Distance: 4¼ miles approx.
Afterwards we will head to the Plough Inn at Fulford for our lunch. The pub has a car park which we will drive to after the walk.

Distance: 4¼ miles. The land is very flat with only around 30m of ascent. No styles. There may be sheep, but probably not cows.
At 11.30am at the end of Fordlands Lane near its junction with Cherry Wood Crescent.

Fulford is about a mile south of York centre, and this walk is easy to reach from the A64.
Directions: Leave the A64 at its junction with A19 and follow the A19 (Selby Road) in the direction of York. Turn right at the lights at the first junction, signed Fulford Cemetery, and then first right again (still signed to the cemetery). This is Fordlands Road. Follow it to the end and park up on the roadside near the junction with Cherry Wood Crescent.
The nearest bus stop is Crossfield Crescent, served by numbers 25 and 26.
