Spring Sunday Afternoon Ramble and Roast Dinner in Woolhampton
Overview
The Rowbarge, has been serving the needs of travellers and locals alike for hundreds of years. They offer six different cask ales on tap, a decent wine list and a shelf crammed with malts. You can be assured of a very warm welcome from a friendly crew who'll enjoy looking after you.
Following the ramble, we will relax and dine in a private area of this truly characterful traditional pub with a traditional hot Sunday Roast. You will have earned it! If the desserts catch your eye you can order and pay separately for this on the day.
The Ramble start point will be: Theale Car park (free car park), Sheffield Lock, Station Road. We will end at Midgham Station where you can chose to return by train (£4.40 approx) or we can organise some returns via car-share.
Dinner is booked for 4.00pm.
The ramble itself is approximately 6.5miles in length on fairly flat but uneven terrain along the canal tow path.

Rare roasted topside of beef with seasonal vegetables and a Yorkshire pudding
Roast loin of pork with stuffing and apple sauce
Mixed rare roast beef and roast pork with all the trimmings
Braised shoulder of lamb with seasonal vegetables and gravy
Roast chicken with pigs in blankets and stuffing
Stilton, caramelised red onion and potato pie with carrot purée and vegetarian gravy (V)
The free car park at Sheffield Lock on Station Road, Theale:
Exit the M4 at Junction 12 (Reading West); turning left at the roundabout at the end of the slip road on the A4 in the Newbury direction and left again at the next roundabout. Follow signs for the railway station through the business park but go past the station turning left again over the railway and continue over the canal turning immediately left into the car park.

Alternatively, the car park is a short walk from Theale train station. We will be ending close to Midgham station (along the same line).
