Overview

Crocodiles of the World is located just a few minutes off the A40, between Witney and Burford and was founded in 2011 by crocodile conservationist, Shaun Foggett. The first zoo was located at Crawley Mill, Witney. However, with increasing visitor numbers and a growing population of crocodiles, the zoo needed to move and opened new premises in Brize Norton (the former Foxbury Farm site) in February 2014.

Crocodiles of the World is the UK’s only crocodile zoo and is currently home to more than 150 crocodiles representing 15 different species including crocodiles, alligators and caimans, as well as other reptiles. They boast one of the widest collections of crocodiles, alligators and caiman in Europe. They are home to 17 of the world’s 24 species, including Cuban and Siamese crocodiles who are two of the most critically endangered species and Saltwater crocodiles who are the most feared in the world.

You can expect to see Crocodiles, Alligators, Caimans, Lizards, Turtles, Tortoises, mammals and birds. There’s plenty of opportunities to meet some of the smaller residents up close and personal, so take advantage of the opportunities to get closer to the wild in a safe environment.

We have organised a Spice exclusive talk in the Education Centre from one of the dedicated expert team who will educate us on the different varieties of crocodiles, their natural habitat, conservation and of course the big one…the difference between a Croc and an Alligator! Do you know the answer? We will also have the opportunity to stroke a young Croc under supervision. Obviously there will be hand washing and sanitising facilities available but if you prefer not to participate in stroking the Croc that is absolutely fine. The talk is expected to be 20-30 minutes in duration.

When we are ready we can take a break at the Croc Cafe which will be serving light snacks and refreshments. You will need to pay by credit/debit card as cash is not accepted at this time. If you prefer you can provide your own picnic. The Croc Shop is also open so we will make time to have a look round.u

IMPORTANT: If you have a new persistent cough, high temperature and/or sudden loss to taste/smell, please do not attend. The same applies if you have been asked to isolate or contacted by track and trace. Face masks/coverings are compulsory when visiting indoor areas of the zoo.
