Spice Exclusive Curry and Quiz on Whittington Tea Barge in Reading.

We have taken the plunge, excuse the pun, and hired out the entire barge for the evening! It was originally planned as a Christmas event in 2020, but with Reading being in tier 2 on the appointed date, it was not possible to go ahead.

Do join us on this contemporary boat for an evening of fun, combined with a hearty two course supper and entertainment in the form of a quiz.

Whittington’s is a modern, light and airy wide beam canal barge, built in 2012 and is family run and owned by Andrew and Lesley Whittington. Andrew is not only a keen cook, with a passion for creating delicious meals but he is also a descendent of the original Dick Whittington!! His grandfather was Richard Whittington, who was related to the original Dick Whittington. So, the name was born – and the Whittington’s logo even includes Dick’s cat in its design.Lesley is a professional singer, who studied at the Royal Academy of Music. Today she combines teaching with running Whittington’s, and some of her students form the waiting staff on the barge – so don’t be surprised if they burst into song!

Please note: This is a bring your own bottle event. The barge has a licence for you to bring your own alcohol so feel free to come along with your favourite tipple.
