Spice Dines Polish at Barbakan York
Overview
Barbakan is a small independent restaurant located on Walmgate serving predominately traditional Polish cuisine but with an extra multi European twist. They serve dishes strongly influenced by several different countries within Eastern Europe fused with others that have been taken from more of a Western European style. Everything, without exception, is made fresh on the premises.
As this is a Spice dines around the world meal you will qualify for a stamp in your passport. If you haven't already got a passport we will issue you with one on the night.

MAINS
Golabki – cabbage leaves stuffed with spiced mince pork and rice baked in the oven and served with tomato sauce
Pierogi (beef) – pan fried dumplings filled with beef
Pierogi (V) – pan fried dumplings filled with cheese and potatoes
Pierogi (spinach, bacon and cheese) – pan fried dumplings filled with spinach and smoked cheese oscypek topped with crispy bacon and sour cream
Pierogi (spinach and cheese) (V) – pan fried dumplings filled with spinach and smoked cheese oscypek
Fishcake – homemade fishcake with preserved lemon aioli and sweet cabbage salad
Zawijaniec (V) – pancake stuffed with buckwheat and vegetables, topped with smoked cheese and baked in tomato sauce
Bigos – Polish hunter’s stew made with cabbage and various cuts of meat, sausages and wild mushrooms
Hungarian potato pancake – beef goulash served with mixed salad and sour cream
Stuffed peppers – red peppers stuffed with spiced mince pork, barley and vegetable topped with mozzarella and tomato sauce and baked in the oven
Meatballs with wild mushrooms, tomato sauce and pappardelle pasta
Courgette fritters (V) – light and fluffy courgette fritters with a touch of coriander, chive and parmesan topped with sour cream
Fresh Scottish mussels – cooked with white wine, cream and garlic
