Overview

This stunning 10 mile route explores the hills to the south of Broadway making good use of both the Cotswold Way and the Wychavon Way.

It involves 300m of climbing which is all done during the first half of the walk as we meander through the woods and fields to arrive at the picture postcard village of Snowshill, where we will stop for lunch at the Snowshill Arms.

Passing golden honey coloured stone cottages, we climb out of the village and on to the ridge that forms the top of the limestone escarpment that is the backdrop to Broadway. A mixture of woodland paths and quite country lanes will then take us to the café and tower overlooking the town with fine views across the Vale of Evesham.

We stay with the ridge for a while before descending through mature beech woods to come out at the top of Broadway, which we will pass through on our way back to the start.

Those that still have feeling in their fingers may wish to finish off with a drink in The Swan.

We should return with enough time left to spend an hour exploring the shops in Broadway if you so wish.

Notes: This route can be quite muddy at the start so boots are required, it can also get quite blowy on the escarpment, so a coat will be required. Walking poles will help those who find steep descents on slippy woodland paths troublesome.

There are toilet facilities at the start, in Snowshill and near Broadway Tower.
