Scottish Borders Golf Break 2021
Overview
Our Golf and Social Weekend is an annual favourite with members offering a thoroughly enjoyable break for golfers of all standards. This year we head to the tranquil Scottish Borders to enjoy a weekend of good company, lovely surroundings and leisurely golf. All participating golfers also have the opportunity to compete for the Spice Masters Golf Trophy. Now into its 8th year, the cup (if won) will be engraved with the winner’s name – you also get to keep the trophy until the 2022 competition. There will be also be a nearest the pin, longest drive and best beginner competitions. All golfers will be allocated a handicap so everyone is in with a shot of winning. This year (2019) the trophy was won by Jenny Wray from Spice Scotland. 2020 will be played locally with no accommodation.
Golf green fees are included in the cost - we will play one round locally on Saturday and one round locally on Sunday.

2 Nights Bed and Breakfast, Evening Dinners in the award winning 1536 Restaurant, Green fees on Saturday and Sunday, Use of Hotel Leisure Facilities including Pool, Gym and Spa (Spa requires booking direct with the venue). Spice Host throughout.

After extensive phone calls and searching I have booked two crackers for us. Both 18 hole courses have fantastic reviews and will offer a challenge to all of us as we search for the 2021 Spice Golf Masters champion.
Saturday - Woll Golf Club Championship Course - experience the course that has been described as "the course every golfer must play" and "The friendliest course in the Borders" The Golf Course is one of the most popular in the Borders and is gaining popularity as it is kept in such excellent condition all year round. The 17th below is a real challenge with water surrounding the green! This a par 69 - 5748 yard of the yellow and par 71 - 5323 yard of the red tees. The course is a 40 min drive away and tee times are booked for 11.24am. We will receive a bacon roll and hot drink before teeing off and we'll have a bite to eat in the 19th hole after our round. This is all included in the cost.
Sunday - Peebles Golf Club - Keeping it local for the Sunday, the course is a few minutes from our hotel. The jewel in the Borders golfing crown, Peebles is a fun but challenging Harry Colt designed course set in a beautiful location. The club championships ware on the Saturday and I have been advised the course will be in a stunning condition for our visit. The Harry Colt designed course’s strength lies in its beauty, location, variety of holes and overall condition. Measuring 5795 yards in length from the yellow tees (par 72), and 5251 par 70 off the red tees. Peebles is not the longest course but accuracy off the tee is a must along with precise approach shots, with missed greens resulting in a challenging up and down. The 6th and 15th tees are the highest points on the course, offering stunning views over the Tweed Valley, and with the 9th and 18th greens returning the clubhouse.
Location & Itinerary
Whilst The Scottish Borders doesn't generate the headlines of the links west coast or Fife golf courses there are some real gems to be found. We will explore the local courses to offer two fantastic challenges on the Saturday and Sunday.
