Ramble: Kathryn's Tatton Park Autumnal Walk
Overview
This fairly easy walk takes us on a route from the centre of Knutsford where we take a bit of an urban meander before we enter the mixed woodland of Dog Wood and continue on in to Tatton Park where hopefully we will see some red or fallow deer. We plan to follow the edge of Tatton Mere enjoying wonderful views of the One Thousand Acre parkland and then continue on a circuit before returning via the Knutsford entrance keeping close to the park boundary. From here we will walk along the historic King Street which is the lower of Knutsford's main streets where we can window shop as we make our way back to our start point.
Please note: Knutsford Makers Markets are scheduled for this Sunday so you might want to factor in some mooching time after the walk but you will definitely want to factor in time to find a car parking space ahead of the walk.
Location & Itinerary
Grade 5: 6 1/2 Miles - please refer to the Ramble Grading page HERE which also gives you a list of recommended items to bring with you.
We will meet in the Railway Station car park (Manchester bound) which is Pay & Display (or if not working you have to pay at the station ticket office). This car park is situated near the junction of the A537 and the A50 in the centre of Knutsford just off King Street. This parking is quite a pricey option so If this car park is full or if you would rather find a cheaper alternative there are a variety of car parks in and around Knutsford centre - please check to make sure that they allow more than a couple of hours parking though - More details here -currently Knutsford are advertising free parking on Sundays as per the weblink above but please check in the car park you choose - this is not applicable in the station car park!
Please note: as per the event write up, the Maker's Markets are due to take place on the same day so Knutsford is likely to be busy so please make sure you leave plenty of time to find a car parking space and make your way to the meet point.
