Pelsall Waterfront Ramble
Overview
New Coronavirus Restrictions Rules: Please be assured that this walk will be run within new “Rule of 6” government guidelines announced recently. More details are in the Before You Go section and this News Item
This is the 3rd in our trilogy of walks that are entirely within the Borough of Walsall! This route takes us to Pelsall, a town so dominated by water that you can only enter by passing over a canal bridge!
This may not be an area that many associate with open countryside and nature but again, Richard hopes to surprise you by linking a number of wonderful waterways and green spaces of different kinds that are all linked to the history of the region.
It's a flat and easy 3 hours of walking that takes in a hidden lakeside nature reserve, the site of 2 battles in the English Civil War, a lakeside nature reserve that emerged from the brick making trade and much more besides. Our route joins them up mainly by following waterways that include two canals, a stream, and several lakes. We also use a lively stretch of cycleway that was once the Pelsall Railway Line.
We hope to be able to take a cafe or pub stop along the way, depending on the prevailing restrictions.
This is easy, flat walking and around 8 miles in all.
