Overview
Event going ahead: From the 29th March we are allowed to run outdoor activities. See the Before You Go section for more details.
Second Group: There is a second group being led by Karen Fletcher which will follow a short distance from Mick’s group. If the first group is full there may be space on the second group.
Starting from the Cromford Mill to climb steadily past the railway station and over to the village of Lee, crossing through Swinepark wood to the hamlet of Dethick.
Then we follow footpaths and a quiet lane to Riber, passing the castle built in 1862, a former fauna reserve, with superb views all around especially over Matlock.
We descend steeply and cross the A6 via the footbridge, take the lane then footpaths to climb high above Matlock Bath via Shining Cliff to pass the Heights of Abraham, descending to Bonsall, the U F O capitol.
Finally, we circle round above the Via Gelia to descend into Cromford via the Harp Edge and the old mines.

Location & Itinerary
Our Sunday walks are always popular and we go out all weathers and all through the year. All walks in the Peak District need to be classified as moderate due to the terrain. Easier Moderate Walks are generally half day only around 6-8 miles.
Full day or Harder Moderate walks are normally not more than 10-12 miles although sometimes slightly more in summer months.
If you've not done much hill walking recently regardless of your general fitness level, we'd recommend starting off on one of these shorter half day walks, typically of around 6 miles before tackling our slightly more serious full day walks.
The meet time is generally 10:15am for a start at 10:30am but some differ so please check the individual walks
