Mid-Week Ramble: Peak Forest Group 1
Overview
This walk begins in a relatively elevated location and affords good views over the central Peak District with surprisingly little effort. We will be following quiet roads and old miner’s tracks for the most part, seeing some of the effects mining had on the landscape. This area is also the site of a little-known feature called the Peak Forest Sill, which, like its more famous cousin the Whin Sill, baked the surrounding rocks and we’ll be seeing the unusual effects this had. Please bring your walking boots and some sandwiches to keep you going on the way round.
Facilities: Due to Covid-19, the situation regarding toilets at the nearby pub is not known.
