This is a stunning 9 mile round trip with a total of 300m of climbing spread throughout the day showing the Cotswolds off at their best. The walk is expected to take about 5 hours.

We leave Middle Tysoe and gently climb up to Shenington Airfield then on to the village of the same name, a delightful collection of houses around a large village green, church and pub. Crossing several undulating fields we then descend into the pretty hamlet of Epwell with its outstanding collection of cottages and ancient church.

We will stop at the Chandler’s Arms for lunch and refreshment before heading out across rolling countryside providing views to the far distance. After a couple of miles we meander into the village of Winderton, where thatched cottages nestle in the valley overlooked by the imposing church sitting on a promontory.

Our walk then turns North passing Compton Wynyates to climb Windmill Hill, complete with restored mill, offering spectacular views into the far distance. The walk is then completed by a descent back into the villages of Upper and Middle Tysoe, where those that wish to can retire to the Peacock Inn to recover there sense of humour and feeling in their outer extremities.

Trevor always brings a walking pole to assist with descents, threatening dogs and prodding any reluctant back markers.

There are a few fields that are usually full of cows, so dogs are not welcome on this walk.

National Trust members may like to visit nearby Upton House after the walk.
