Meriden and Balsall Common 9 mile Winter Warmer Walk
Overview
Event going ahead: We are now allowed to run outdoor activities. See the Before You Go section for more details.
This 9 mile walk leaves Meriden, gently climbing over open countryside, passing through an area that will be dramatically changed as HS2 rolls on its way. The route offers fine open views and no steep gradients. We will then enter Balsall Common village and stop for a break at the excellent Delicia’s Café. We leave by crossing the disused railway that it being turned into HS2 and meander across fields to Berkswell, which encompasses one of the prettiest churches in Warwickshire. We then gain the high ground to wind our way back to the Queen’s Head.
There is a fair chance that the route will be muddy, but you will be able to wash this off in the numerous puddles.
Note: Route is suitable for well-behaved dogs and owners.
Host & Everything Else
Loved the walk and the company. Trevor is great, good communicator. I will be booking on Trevor's walk again. I really enjoy the walks.
Trevor is a great walk leader - competent, friendly, and works hard to keep the group together. The walks are always well prepared (map handouts are a nice touch - especially useful if we feel like repeating the walk). Spice walks are good value for money. This length and pace of walk are right up my street, although Rob is to be commended for his excellent Sunday lunch venues !
This was a lovely walk, with a good mix of friendly Spice members. As always, Trevor was a very capable and knowledgeable walk leader. The planned cafe and pub stops added to the day, as did the walk itself, which had a little extra pace and distance, compared to some of the other Spice walks. All in all an enjoyable day.
