Overview
Serving classic French dishes, the Bistro at Hotel du Vin is tucked away off Bristo Place in Edinburgh’s atmospheric Old Town. It is a cosy, welcoming space with restored fireplaces, reclaimed floorboards and lots of wine merchant memorabilia.
Service is polished but informal and the sommelier is always happy to advise anyone in need of a little friendly guidance around the 200 plus bin list. The Bistro’s courtyard – complete with cigar bothy and heaters – is a hidden gem which is well worth seeking out.

Soupe au pistou - A fresh light minestrone soup, garnished with home-made pistou
Caprese salad - Isle of Wight tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and aged balsamic dressing
MAINS
Poulete basquaise - chicken served with tomatoes, peppers and olives, pilaf rice
Sea bass en papillote, fennel, olives, lemon and thyme
Ratatouille pissaladière - French style pizza with roasted Mediterranean vegetables and vegetarian style parmesan
DESSERT
Mousse au chocolat - classic chocolate mousse with crème Chantilly
Strawberries and cream - Bruce Farms Scottish strawberries with crème chantilly
