Yippee! Lock-down restrictions are relaxed to allow us to resume our weekly walks from the beginning of April. Here is a walk to get us back into practice. You can either join for just the morning 6 miles with or without joining us for lunch, or for just the afternoon 6 miles or for the full 12 mile, flat walk if you are keen to make the most of the lifting of restrictions.
Please meet outside the front entrance of London Bridge railway station (opposite platform numbers 10 to 15), near the bus stops and taxi rank, ready to depart at 10:00.
The morning walk is alongside the north side of the river Thames, passing the Tower of London, St Katherine's Docks, Shadwell Basin, Canary Wharf and through the Greenwich foot tunnel to Greenwich for your choice of lunch break. Either bring a picnic to have under one of the sheltered areas (or in the sunshine if is a nice day) or buy lunch from one of the many pubs and cafés with the option of outdoor tables if the social distancing rules don't change. We will split up for lunch so we don't breach the Covid-19 group size restrictions in London for lunch.
If you only want to walk 6 miles, you can finish here and get the train, DLR or tube home or we will meet back up in the Greenwich tunnel area to continue the afternoon walk along the south side of the Thames back to London Bridge. In the afternoon, we will walk mainly alongside the Thames, round South and Greenland Docks, through Rotherhithe, back to London Bridge.
If you would like to only join for the afternoon 6 mile walk, please text me to say that. We can then arrange where to meet you depending on whether you want to join us for lunch or just the afternoon walk.
As we will be walking in the open air, it is within the Covid-19 rules to take a groups of people, split into groups of 5, taking it in turn to be the front, rear and middle groups, in support of sensible social distancing.
Please remember to bring a Covid-19 protection mask with you to wear if you wish to purchase lunch at Greenwich or travel on public transport to/from the walk.
Linda (the walk leader) will keep all groups within her sight at all times.
Please bring drinking water, a Covid-19 protective mask, your picnic lunch or money for a pub lunch and any other drinks or snacks you may want. Please dress for the weather on the day (and bring an umbrella if necessary).
Please do not attend this walk if you have Covid-19 symptoms or have been exposed to the virus.
Your walk leader is Linda Richardson (07575 799909 for on the day), please ring or text if you are lost, late or can no longer attend.
