Lickey Hills Easy to Moderate Figure of 8 Ramble
Overview
Some leisurely walking, aimed at those who like a sociable saunter amongst beautiful scenery with an option of finishing at the 3 mile or 6 mile point. The walking is all on good paths.
Figure of 8 walks allow you the opportunity to just do one short “easy” walk, or to stay on after a café break for a second circuit that makes the distance up to “moderate” level. You can decide on the day whether to stick after the first walk or continue for the full 6 miles. Richard will point out features and history as we go.
We meet outside the Visitor Centre at Warren Lane and our walks are as follows:
Ramble 1) 10.30am depart for a southern circuit of that takes in parts of the Sculpture Trail and Woodpecker Trails. We'll enjoy woodland paths and panoramic views. We'll also stop to admire (and interpret??) the curious art installations along the way. We should be back at around 12 noon, where we can get drinks/ snacks if we wish.
Ramble 2) 1pm depart from The Cafe/ Visitor Centre heading north to discover the high point of Beacon Hill with it's fort (a Victorian folly). We'll enjoy various habitats including ancient woodland and pools. This route is approx. 3 miles and we expect to be back at the Visitor Centre by 3pm.
Dogs: This route is dog friendly and there is seating outside the café for those with dogs. So if your dog is “people friendly”, please bring them along!
