Lauren's Off Piste Walks: Ness Gardens and The Dee Marshes
Overview
This new to us walk starts from Ness Gardens on the Wirral: The walk is not quite flat, as the start will soon show – there is a splendid view of the Welsh Hills before a drop to the foreshore – but the climb back up is hardly noticeable. There is a long walk along the edge of the Dee Marshes, much now an RSPB reserve before the isolated Harp Inn is reached. A little distance on the foreshore leads to fields and the old railway line which is used for much of the return. Despite the surrounding built-up area, this (and the Harp) is the only place where you are likely to meet many people.
Location & Itinerary
Thought to be Grade 4: Approx 6 Miles - this is a new to us walk so it could be longer or shorter and it could be harder or easier so we would recommend only booking this if you are a regular walker. Please refer to the Ramble Grading page HERE which also gives you a list of recommended items to bring with you
Please use CH64 4AY in your sat nav.
Travelling from Manchester or Chester, take the M56 and then A5117 turning right onto the A540 and then follow the brown signs.
The Winter price for Ness Gardens where we start the walk from is £4.95 including gift aid & parking. Please buy your ticket from the ticket office on arrival (or in advance on their website here) - they have said they are happy for us to leave the cars there and we can pop back and have a look around the gardens when we get back from the walk.
