Joanne's Walk - Brunstane and Danderhall

The walk follows country tracks and paths through Brunstane Park, into Newhailes park and then onto an Edinburgh Bing (presumably left from the Monktonhall colliery, which was sited nearby). An interesting walk with evidence of industrial heritage and present day industry (Millerhill marshalling yard and large re-cycling plant). Much of this pleasant land is earmarked for housing development, so come and see these pleasant fields and lanes, with great views over to the hills near Dalkeith, before they are engulfed in housing. We pass Newton village with its historic Kirk and stop for bite to eat at the Danderhall miners memorial garden, before heading back.
