Hollingworth Lake Walk and Lakeside Lunch at the Wine Press
Overview
Why not join us for a gentle walk around the fabulous, scenic Hollingworth Lake followed by a lovely 2 or 3 course meal at the Lakeside Wine Press restaurant?
Hollingworth Lake was originally built as the main water source for the Rochdale Canal but developed as a tourist resort in the 1860s; it has been owned by Rochdale council since the 1970s and is a very popular place to visit and go for a walk. Our walk around the lake isn't going to tire us out at around 2 1/2 miles but it should help us to work up an appetite for a lovely meal afterwards.
We will be dining at the Wine Press, a contemporary British Pub/restaurant with stunning views over Hollingworth lake. The Wine Press serves a mix of traditional and modern, freshly prepared English food and today we will be choosing from their special set menu which changes weekly.

Exit the M62 at J21 and head towards Milnrow on Elizabethan Way (A640). After just over ½ mile, turn right onto the B6225, which heads to Littleborough. Hollingworth Lake will be sign posted (brown sign) and is approx 2 ½ miles along the B6225. Do not mistake the sailing activity centre for the Visitors centre! You pass the sailing and activity centre, continue along the road until you reach a sharp bend. Turn right on to Rakewood Road and the Wine Press is immediately on your left.
They have an onsite car park but it can get busy. If you can't get a space in their car park, just a little further down the road on the left is the entrance to the visitors centre car park – it is pay and display so please remember to take a couple of pounds. The visitors centre car park what3words location is https://w3w.co/spring.transit.voting
Please Note: If you use the Visitor Centre car park as above, the pay point is in the top part of the car park over the car park from the visitors centre - you might want to stop there to pay before heading down to spaces further away in the car park.
Additional Parking: On sunny days the parking can get busy so it is useful to know that there is a further pay & display car park called Hollingworth Road Car Park. This is located a 3 minute walk from the Wine Press. When you reach the sharp bend (with the Wine Press and Lake on your right) continue left around the bend and the Hollingworth Road Car Park is located on your left after a short distance.
