Heritage Railway and Boat Trip
Overview
On Sunday we plan to use the heritage steam train to discover Dartmouth and the river Dart with the option to make it a ‘round robin’ with a trip to Totnes.
The day starts on the 10:30 steam service from Paignton to Kingswear which travels through some wonderful scenery including part of the beautiful coastline.
Once in Kingswear we will all get the ferry across the Dart river to the pretty town of Dartmouth.
We will have a look around Dartmouth and part of the group will take a one way river cruise to Totnes and the others will have a bit longer to explore Dartmouth and take a later one hour river cruise which returns to Dartmouth.
The group that go to Totnes will have time to spend in this lovely town and return to Paignton on a bus. The other group will get the steam train back to Paignton.
The two options are…
Round Robin:
10:30 steam train to Kingswear and then the ferry to Dartmouth.
Time in Dartmouth
12:45 boat to Totnes
15:20 bus back to Paignton
Steam & cruise:
10:30 steam train to Kingswear and then the ferry to Dartmouth.
Time in Dartmouth
13:30 River cruise
14:45 ferry back to Kingswear for 15:10 steam train back to Paignton
Which one? It really depends on how much time you want to spend in Dartmouth, whether you want to include Totnes and if you want one or two steam train rides.
