Overview

Please note: This event is OK to go ahead. We are having to restrict numbers to 4 due to the guidelines, so you will get a personalised experience. The venue has assured they have all the COVID 19 hygiene and social distancing steps in place.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, those who have made similar items before and even those who have booked the workshop before! This is because we have flexibility on the shape and style of our fused glass item. In todays class we can choose from either a fused glass sun catcher to hang in our home, a jewellery pendant or even a coaster!

We will begin with a brief description of exactly what glass fusing is and a look at the different types of glass. Our tutor Theresa, will show us all of the different tools we'll be using and go through the different design options that are available to us.

After our demonstration of how to safely cut glass we will start to make your own unique item from the large selection of coloured glass, stringers, confetti, frit and millefiore.

Our masterpiece will then need to be fired in the kiln and will be posted straight out to us after.

Here is some feedback from our enamelling workshop at the same venue with the same tutor

  • Excellent enamelling workshop. I thought the event a bit expensive when I booked it, but when I realised the cost of the materials and processing of the items, I could see the cost was justified. Teresa is obviously very experienced, both in craft skills and also in teaching amateurs: she was very encouraging and helpful. It’s wonderful that a novice can, in just an hour or two, produce a couple of attractive items that I shall be happy to show off to friends. I can see myself doing more of Teresa’s workshops.
  • Teresa was a patient tutor who managed to spread herself amongst the five of us so that we all were able to complete each of the stages of the enamelling.
  • The class size was just right, more people would have made it difficult to get as much of Teresa’s time as we needed.
  • It was a very enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I would be very happy to recommend it to others.
