Starting from near the Heritage Mills we start the climb steadily to the eastern side of the Derwent valley, the peaceful side, to contour round then climb to cross the Hearthstone Lane track.
Them we descend past Coombs wood to the hamlet of Lea an after Lea Gardens we circle round into Lea.
From there we take the footpath over fields to Wakebridge, a climb round Cliff Quarry takes us to Crich Stand Memorial Tower with views over 7 counties and a café.
Then we descend passing the Tramway Museum to Crich Carr and to Whatstandwell to join the canal and the Derwent Valley Heritage Way for the return through the tunnel, over the aqueduct and past the pumping station and the High Peak Junction back to the start.
