Gilbert White and the Oates Collection Spring Kitchen Garden Course
Overview
Spend the day in the kitchen garden at Gilbert White's House learning how to plan, prepare and sow your own vegetables for the kitchen. The course covers crop planning, soil preparation, setting out growing areas and seed sowing within the historic 18th century kitchen garden.
At the end of the day you will have planted seeds to take away in addition to seeds to sow in your own garden.

10am - Arrival
Planning a kitchen garden.
Selecting tools.
Preparing soil for seed sowing.
11.30am Coffee break
Setting a garden line and creating a seed drill.
Sowing seed outside- parsnip.
Planting potatoes.
Sowing seed outside- broad beans.
1pm - Lunch break
Preparing a seed tray and sowing leeks.
Preparing pots and sowing runner beans.
Hoeing and Weeding.
Harvesting crops.
Composting.
Maintaining Tools.
4pm - Finish
